It’s tax season. And one of the Ranger’s tires had a slow leak.
That means there was only one solution.
NEW TIRES. Obviously!
Went with BFG All Terrains. I’d wanted General Grabber AT/Xs but the guy said BFG stands behind their products better.
265/75/R16. It had 255/70/16s on it.
Also I need to replace the lower ball joints soon. And either the hub assembly, or a wheel bearing (or both). I can’t remember.

Definitely the right choice. I have the same tire in the same size showing up for my VehiCROSS tomorrow. Love me some BFG AT/TAs.

I’m already in love. I just wish the wheels were in better shape.

there’s no separate hub/bearings. it’s all one integrated hub/bearing/tone ring/ABS sensor assembly, and it’s pricy. Ask me how I know.

and (easy for me to say) pricy or not, if you plan to keep the truck a while I wouldn’t cheap out on a replacement. Upside is it’s not that hard to replace, no press needed.

I ran those on my 2014 F150 and loved them. I wanted a set for my 2004 Pathfinder, but they’re super limited to what fits with stock wheels so I ended up with Hankooks since BFGs don’t come in the size I needed. They look great on your Ranger!

That’s a much bigger tire, yeah? Looks great on there. Can’t really go wrong with BFG A/T’s.
I had to put new tires on my truck because the old ones were older than me, and I’m almost 40. I was leaning toward BFGs but then went with Falken WildPeak because they were cheaper and had great reviews of their road manners, which is where my truck spends most of its time anyway.

Dad had to do them on his and he said it was a total pain in the ass. I'm definitely either going to fix it, or have it fixed. I love the truck and plan on keeping it for a long time.

Its a couple sizes. Maybe 2 inches taller.

Thank you! I'm super happy with how they look, and from the 10 miles I've put on them seem to ride just as well as the old tires

I’ve got the same issue, the chrome on mine is really pitted and kinda gross. But on my ex-80 series Land Cruiser I plastidipped the wheels black and added chrome lugs...with the white letter tires it looked awesome. I’m planning to do the same on the VX, except I think I’ll go gunmetal instead of black. Might be worth a shot on your Ranger.

What year is his? IIRC the ones with locking hubs are the ball-ache, needing special tools. At some point (2003?) they got rid of locking hubs and just used the transfer case disconnect like my 2011.

His was an ‘05, as is mine

I.m not really a fan of black wheels tbh.
